You don’t have to be an artist to join us at the Vale of Pickering Art Club! Anyone with an interest in any kind of art is welcome. This friendly local group holds monthly evening meetings, many of which feature a guest demonstrator or speaker, and an Annual Exhibition during the first week of September at the Memorial Hall in Pickering. For those who like to try their hand at drawing and painting, we also hold informal practical sessions on Monday evenings at the Village Hall in Middleton. During the summer months we organize a series of outdoor painting days at various local places of interest. The venues are chosen to provide a variety of subject material and access to appropriate facilities. Being in a group on location is so much more fun and helps boost confidence as well as reducing the impact of inquisitive onlookers! The Wednesday evening meetings in the Memorial Hall are open to non-members for a small charge and take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (except December), from 7-9pm. On June 16th Don Micklethwaite will be demonstrating in watercolours, and on July 21st the Workshop from Ebberston will give a presentation about Art for the Home. August 18th is the Painting Challenge Day, at Beadlam Grange Farm Shop and in the evening there will be an opportunity to view and discuss member’s work, completed during the day, over a glass of wine. Practical sessions on Mondays at Middleton Village Hall are from 7-9pm (a small charge is made to cover the cost of the hall) but do not take place in April, August or December. The club exhibition this year will run from Saturday 4th September to Sunday 12th September, in the Memorial Hall, Pickering. Do please come along and have a look at our wide range of work! A friendly welcome awaits anyone who is interested in any of our activities! Membership cost is £15 annually.
