Warm summer evenings sitting in the garden with a glass of your favourite tipple, watching the sun go down and the bats and hedgehogs come out – sounds like my idea of heaven! However, for us stalwarts at The Kirk Theatre, the summer means the start of rehearsals for the Wartime Revue! The sitting in the garden bit has to wait until after rehearsal!

This year’s show is entitled “Bless ‘em All”, produced as usual by Maureen Symonds and will run from 12th  – 17th  October. More news in the next Beacon, but book those dates in your diary now!

As I write, we are just about to go on stage with our spring show “The Boyfriend”. It promises to be a great show, thanks to the guidance of our young director, Luke Arnold. Luke has had more than his fair share of difficulties with this show – two cast members had to pull out due to personal circumstances and proved difficult to replace, as they were both male and young. Like all societies, we are always looking for men – so if you are reading this and fancy giving us a try, then please let us know!! One of our leading ladies was then caught up in the volcano ash situation and her two-week holiday stretched somewhat. At the time of writing she is not actually back yet but we are keeping faith that she will be back in time!

Once the spring show is over, we have a break of 6 weeks before rehearsals start again. That’s when the idyllic scene in the garden on a warm summer evening can become a reality!

Once again, don’t forget to mark the dates of “Bless ‘em All” in your diaries and if you are interested in helping out please leave a message on our Box Office phone (01751 474833) – we will get back to you.

          Have a great summer!

Linda Tester, Publicity Manager.
