GIVE AND TAKE DAY |
|
Will be held on Saturday, 20th March 9a.m to 4pm in the Memorial Hall, Pickering. This is a community event being organised in partnership with Ryedale District Council. Similar events have recently been held in Malton and Kirkbymoorside – now it is Pickering’s turn! The idea is that people bring things they don't want anymore and other people who need such things can take them away FREE! This is a way of recycling which benefits the environment and benefits local people. Many people in the area have items they no longer need or use, so it’s much better to pass these on for re-use rather than discard them. And you might find something that you have always been looking for – FOR FREE! Everybody is welcome. The following types of items are acceptable: household/kitchen stuff, books, CDs, clothes, electrical goods and furniture that will fit in a car. Stickers are put on electrical goods and furniture to indicate they haven't been checked for safety. John Brown, Ryedale District Council’s Environmental Co-ordinator, will be at the Give and Take Day at the Memorial Hall on Saturday, 20th March. The organisers are looking for volunteers willing to give an hour or two of their time just to oversee the event. This doesn't involve heavy work but it can be tiring. At the end of the day any leftover items are taken to be dumped unless one of the local charity shops would like them.
