NOT AN OBITUARY THIS TIME |
|
Why is it that in many cases we only really find out how truly good and worthy someone was, when we attend their funeral or read their obituary. Pickering and District Rotary Club continues to aim to change this, by giving the members of the public the opportunity again to nominate appropriate individuals for 2010 Service Before Self Award. This will enable the winner to feel truly publicly recognised and in a small way rewarded for his or her service to the community. It could not be a better time of year to recognise those who go the extra mile, with their time being dedicated to look after the welfare of others and in many case give little regard to their own necessities. Persons nominated should reside in the area served by the Club which stretches from Sutton Bank in the West, to Ebberston in the East and from north of Rosedale to a southern boundary which includes Marishes, Great Barugh, etc. Those nominated may still be in employment, but it is essential that the service they have given, must go well beyond the normal service which would be expected for an employee. We hope that every worthy individual within this catchment area is nominated for this award. Nominators are asked to write to Rtn Peter Illingworth, Vocational Chairman, Pickering and District Rotary Club, c/o Illingworth-Wood, 16, Market Place, Kirkbymoorside, York. YO62 6DA and set out their reasons why they are nominating their proposed candidate for this award. The winner will be invited to attend a luncheon presentation, receive an inscribed award and their nominator will also be invited to attend. If you have never nominated before this may be your opportunity to make someone very happy and feel their unstinting service is valued. Rtn Peter Illingworth |
