Heritage Open Days

Heritage Open Days, September 9th -12th in Pickering.

Each year towns and villages open their doors to show off their heritage, and so has Pickering. This year we are delighted that there are two new ventures – the Kirk Theatre will be open during Saturday, so the public can see photos and costumes of past productions, and the new North Yorkshire Railway Archive will be open on Sunday on Platform Two. Also new and on Saturday, there will be a mini exhibition of some our Pickering born watercolour artist, Francis Nicholson 1753 - 1844 with the booklet about his life on sale in the Memorial Hall. On Sunday, as usual, take any finds from mediaeval times or earlier, to Beck Isle Museum for an opinion. For a bit of fun go to the Castle for a games day. On all four days the Friends Meeting House will be open for an exhibition about their work for peace and justice. See Tourist Information Centre and posters for fuller details.
